AV Alliance News Round-Up | September-October 2024 – Part 1

In this multi-part edition of our social media round-up we take a look at all the top news, projects, and updates by our AV Alliance members around the world from the months of September and October, 2024. Part 2 of this autumn edition is coming up in a few days’ time!

Adapt | Linköping, Sweden

Our Linköping-based member Adapt spent six months working on the 3000m2 immersive and interactive museum NAOM in Stockholm. Adapt’s ongoing mission has been to design and install sound, light and image technology – including a digital installation of 360° projection by 37 projectors – , as well as playback and overall control of all equipment.

On September 9th, together with NAOM, Mötesbaren and Eventeffect, Adapt hosted a special screening for those who work with meetings and events. Hundreds registrants attended the event to experience the latest technology in immersive experiences and digital art.

Advanced Staging Productions | West Chester, USA

“The Big Event,” a regular podcast hosted by our Pennsylvania-based member Advanced Staging Productions, dives into all facets of the event industry—from audio and video to lighting and beyond. In their latest episode, their team’s Lead Video Producer Andy DiAngelis and Videographer & Editor Paul Chrismer explore the subject of Video Production in the AI Age. They discuss the challenges of identifying AI-generated content, recommend essential AI tools, and share their predictions on future trends in video production.

AV1 | Gothenburg, Sweden

The  Frihamnsdagarna festival in Gothenburg, which focuses on change, sustainability and democracy attracted thousands of people over the course of three days at the end of August. Our local member AV1 had the pleasure of being responsible for sound, light, image and streaming. See their event recap below:

AVFX | Boston & Denver, USA

In their latest issue, Business In Focus Magazine published a great interview with Matt Emerson, CEO of our member company AVFX. In this article Matt speaks not only about the history of the company, but also elaborates on the secret to AVFX’s success story and on what makes them stand out in the event industry. In early September AVFX’s Boston office welcomed Jeff Robinson as its new Managing Director. Jeff is a true veteran in the AV industry with 40 years of experience under his belt. Welcome to the AVFX team, Jeff!

The AVFX team excels not only in AV support, but also in giving back to the community. Last month their Denver office came out in full support of the Girl Scouts of Colorado in Genesee, Colorado on their volunteer day, where 31 of the AVFX team members put their dedication and hard work into making the area safer by cutting down hazardous trees and implementing forest fire safety measures on the hiking trails.

AV MEDIA EVENTS | Prague, Czech Republic

This October our Prague-based member AV MEDIA EVENTS was responsible for the technical delivery of the 12th International Workshop on Waldenström’s Macroglobulinemia, a rare blood disease. The event, organized by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, was attended by doctors and scientists from all over the world. One of the highlights of the event was a gala dinner in the hall of Prague’s National Museum, where AV MEDIA EVENTS were given free hand in designing the technical concept, and their Creative Lab prepared a unique show that celebrated 100 years of Czech music with three large LED screens and projection mapping.

For the fifth time in a row, AV MEDIA EVENTS provided technical support to the Project, Agile & Leadership Conference at the Cubex Centrum Praha earlier this fall.

The AV MEDIA EVENTS team firmly believes that sometimes only simple projection and audio can bring an internal meeting to a whole new level. This time they provided AV technology for an international IT client, implementing an impressive visual solution with frameless canvases and decoration at the Hilton Prague.

AVP | Brussels, Belgium

Once again our Brussel-based member company’ AVP‘s team worked with the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc Hospital, where they supplied the audiovisual link between the operating theatre and the students in the auditorium as part of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) learning program.

BeWunder | Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Our Dubai-based member company BeWunder is no stranger to to EXPOs and carrying out immense, technologically complex and stunning projects. After their involvement with a large number of pavilions at past EXPOs, for example in Astana, Kazakhstan in 2017 and in Dubai in 2021 (then under the name Neumann&Müller Middle East), BeWunder is already working on delivering pavilions – such as that of the Netherlands, Kuwait, Austria, and Germany – at the upcoming EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan. With the first few “spoilers” already out, we cannot wait to see all of their work in action as part of our AV Alliance AGM next April in Osaka.

Earlier this year BeWunder was turnkey partner for The Ents, the entertainment giant that recently introduced Chaos Karts to Dubai. The team provided a comprehensive scope of rigging, lighting, video, and tracking systems, creating a spectacular, cartoon-style karting experience. This September ProAVLMEA published an article featuring this project, with BeWunder’s Project Manager providing valuable insights into the job.

Brill AV Media | Warsaw, Poland

On September 27th our Warsaw-based member company Brill AV Media supplied immersive event lighting to a musical event that took place in a unique setting at the Muzeum Historii Polski.

Brill AV Media provided advanced multimedia solutions for BEC Poland‘s Meetup Space and Podcast and Recording Studio that have become an integral tool in the production of hybrid meetings and podcast content. Among other things, Brill supplied  camera systems, an advanced sound system, studio lighting, a 3×3 video wall, signal processing and control systems, etc.

Colortone | Cleveland, USA

This September our Ohio-based member Colortone Staging & Rentals was tasked with the technical delivery of the Under 30 Music Festival, which kicked off the ForbesUnder30 Summit in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In October the Colortone team was responsible of the AV delivery of the Women In Manufacturing Summit 2024 in Boston’s John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center.

Congress Rental | Bariloche, Argentina

One of our Argentinian member companies, Congress Rental closed a great September month with 69 events delivered – at times six a day – that took place in 301 rooms altogether, utilizing a total of 34 cameras and 349 microphones across these events and bringing in 232 truckloads of AV equipment. Well done!

Back in August Congress Rental provided AV support to the Hotelga Summit 2024, an exclusive event for business professionals in the hotel, gastronomy, and tourism sectors, organized by AHT (Argentine Tourism Hotel Association) and FEHGRA (Argentine Hotel and Gastronomic Business Federation) together with Messe Frankfurt Argentina. Among other things, Congress Rental was responsible for the coverage of the Federal Tournament of Chefs.

Congress Rental Serbia | Belgrade, Serbia

This October our Serbian member company Congress Rental Ltd. delivered two consecutive events at the Metropol Palace Hotel Belgrade: after the Regional Compliance & Business Regulation Conference on October 16th, the team also provided full AV support to the Belgrade Economic Forum on October 29-30.

Jeff Studley, CEO & President of our Washington DC-based member company CPR MultiMedia Solutions was recently on the Founders’ Forum Podcast, where he spoke about the dynamics of change and the constant transformation of the AV industry based on his three decades of experience in the business. Dorier SA | Geneva, Switzerland

Our Geneva-based member company Dorier SA has recently opened its brand new LED studio at Cercle des Bains in Geneva. This filming location is ideal for campaign launches, product reveals, music videos, talks and much more, with Dorier providing the professional AV services such as lighting, video, digital content creation, and even XR production – along with the filming and editing crew, of course.
And just recently the Genève-Servette Hockey Club (GSHC) have already made good use of the LED studio space filming their pre-game show there!

ES:ME Entertainment Services | Doha, Qatar

Earlier this year our Qatar-based member ES:ME contributed their expertise and skills to the UEFA Euro 2024 European Football Championship. See their throwback photos below!

Five’s International | Bucharest, Romania

This September our Romanian member company Five’s International was the AV partner of the two-day extravaganza that was the Bucharest Days, which drew over 170,000 people in celebration of the capital city of Romania with interactive performances, live music, and a gastronomy festival, and of course the 9th edition of iMapp Bucharest – Winners League, a world-class event that put Bucharest on the global video mapping map, supplied by Five’s.

Gearhouse Group | Johannesburg, Cape Town & Durban, South Africa

Our South African member company Gearhouse SA‘s Johannesburg office and LEDVision, their affiliate and part of Gearhouse Group of Companies, collaborated with The Mason Africa Group on a recent, exclusive launch for TATA for their dealers, where they supplied two LED screens and a gauze backdrop by SDS (also part of Gearhouse Group of Companies).

Gearhouse SA’s Durban team provided full PA support for the Friends of Amstel SA festival in eThekwini (Durban) this August, where they were also responsible for constructing the main stage and walkways, and managing lighting, trussing, and rigging for the event.

In September Gearhouse SA was tasked with the delivery of the annual Durban Fashion Fair, showcasing 50 of Durban’s most sought-after designers. The event required two days of load-in with rehearsals, and Gearhouse SA’s Durban office supplied the complete technical infrastructure, from on stage and live LED screens, to the black gloss fashion ramp with stage design.

Same month, same place – the Durban Business Fair Excellence Awards 2024 took place on September 27th, and Gearhouse’s Durban team provided the complete technical package for both the awards ceremony and the after-party – a PA system for 500 people with backline, DJ kit, lighting, stage design, and LED screen supplied by sister company LEDVision.

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) General Assembly 2024 was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in August, and Gearhouse SA’s Cape Town branch – through their InHouse VTM division – was responsible for audio, audio visual, lighting, staging, and the hybrid conference using Zoom webinars and Zoom meetings. Gearhouse Group’s Sets Drapes Screens (SDS) was responsible for staging and stage backdrop.

Habegger AG | Zürich, Switzerland

For the seventh year in a row, our Zürich-based member company Habegger was the production partner of Showsupport Europe LLC for “Screen-up”, a joint event of Swiss TV marketer Admeira and advertising and marketing agency Goldbach Media, at which more than 40 TV stations annually present their formats for the following year to marketers. In addition to the technical planning and implementation of the event, the Habegger team was also in charge of the direction and the stage design, as well as the recording, editing, and broadcasting of the event. WinGD is the leading developer of low-speed traditional and clean-fuel engines used in marine propulsion systems for commercial shipping. Habegger AG was responsible for the delivery of a 8m x 2.5m projection wall – the construction project management of the projection screen and the technology from the idea to the realisation – that has been installed in WinGD’s in their office’s converted multifunctional space. This meeting room is now used as a presentation area for national and international customers, employees and suppliers. Read more about the project here.

Habegger was tasked to deliver an anniversary event for a Swiss car dealer in their partner venue Swiss Life Arena, where they were responsibile for the execution, rigging, lighting technology, design, audio technology, broadcast, pyrotechnics and stage construction within the arena.

The penultimate Wanda Diamond League event of 2024 took place in Zürich on September 5th, where the international star athletes of track and field competed in the Weltklasse Zürich 2024. Since 2012, Habegger has been responsible for all the lighting and audio technology in the hospitality zone, as well as the closing ceremony in the stadium Letzigrund. As of this year, the team will also be responsible for the in-house broadcasting of the event. Read more here.

Habegger Austria | Vienna, Austria

Our Vienna-based member company Habegger Austria was asked to provide AV support – for the 10th year in a row – to the stage production of Giuseppe Verdi’s AIDA at the Oper im Steinbruch, this time with audio, lighting, and projection technology, as well as special effects.

Konsertsystember LLB | Bergen & Oslo, Norway

At the end of September our Norwegian member Konsertsystemer LLB was the technical provider of the Oslo Business Forum 2024. This year the prestigious event, of which the main theme was corageous leadership, attracted over 2,500 attendees on-site and 10,000 participants online over the course of two conference days on September 25-26.

In October the Zero Conference, produced by JCP, was held at The Hub in Oslo, where a multitude of leaders, researchers and innovators gathered to discuss sustainablility in a time characterized by climate change. The central theme of the conference was how digitalization and AI can contribute to creating environmentally friendly solutions. Konsertsystemer provided audio, lighting, and video support to the conference.

Limelight Veranstaltungstechnik | Munich, Germany

Cascale is a global, non-profit alliance of 300 leading consumer goods brands, retailers, manufacturers, sourcing agents, service providers, trade associations, NGOs, and academic institutions, empowers collaboration to drive equitable and restorative business practices in the consumer goods industry. At their two-day annual meeting at the Hilton Munich Park Hotel in September, our local member company Limelight Veranstaltungstechnik was their AV partner.

Also in September, the “Good Guys” of Limelight Veranstaltungstechnik supported the brand placement of Moët & Chandon at the SUPERBLOOM Festival 2024 at Olympiapark München with a light gobo projection.
